In 1979 John White was a founding father of the WAEA and, in 1983, served as President of the Association. From 1990 until his retirement in 2010, John was the editor and publisher of AVION magazine. He gave countless educational presentations, designed the iconic AVION Award using rotor blades salvaged from a Delta jet engine and was a worthy recipient of the WAEA Lifetime Achievement Award. Recently he had been working towards the opening of a permanent IFE exhibition at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Last week we heard the sad news that John had died after a year-long battle against cancer. He will be missed. As a tribute to John and with the blessing of his wife Martha, PME is re-releasing the 2010 interview in which he chats to Steve Harvey about his long and eventful career in inflight entertainment.
